Flat Edge - Gravers - Vallorbe Swiss (0401) or Unbranded; The Flat Edge Graver is used to cut out parallel curves and lines when engraving, chasing, decorating or sculpting. A professional stone setter will always ‘bright cut’* prior to setting an open back type setting, such as between peg clusters or along the channel before setting the stone(s) into the mount. The now reflective base will act as a mirror to enhance the stones sparkle. Additionally, jewellers often rhodium plate over the ring mount after the ‘bright cut’ process especially when setting diamonds.;*Bright cut – the action of cutting the surface of the area where the stone is to be set, in order to enhance the stone.;Wider, flat gravers such as No.24 create a unique finish by ‘rocking’ the graver from left to right while pulling the graver back creates an old fashioned and impressive textured effect on the surface.;Furthermore, illusion settings enhance the appearance of small stones, making them seem bigger. By cutting facets on the illusion plate (around the stone) with a flat scorper or a square graver, the metal will catch and reflect light, adding to the sparkle of the stone.;Tool Steel (WS) = Length 80mm;High Speed Steel (HSS) = Length 65mm;Vallorbe Swiss or Unbranded
