These come in a wide variety of types, thicknesses and tooth frequency. They are made from hardened and tempered steel and have blank end portions that are intended as clamping areas. The rounded profile of the back, non-cutting edge aids the sawing of curved lines and for really tight curves spiral formed blades are available. 

Blades are suitable for sawing gold, platinum, palladium, silver, brass, copper and steel, these are manufactured in Switzerland. Sizes range from '8' which is the coarsest down to 6/0 which is the finest. The teeth are uniformly honed to ensure the most accurate and rapid cut 

Choice of Saw blade will depend on the material being sawn, its thickness and nature of the job. For delicate work, and when cutting very thin material you should use a finer blade, but for general purpose cutting, choose a heavier blade as breakage is reduced.
